FORTE · CHOOSING GROWTH SUPPORT

Choosing B2B growth support: four routes compared

Choose by who owns the result and who does the weekly work. B2B growth support comes in four overlapping routes: growth agencies, fractional CMOs and advisers, pipeline agencies, and marketing automation or RevOps consultants. Forte Growth's advice: name your gap first, then buy the route that closes it.

The four routes in one table

The routes overlap, and many providers sit across two of them.

Growth agencies: three examples, three scopes

Agency labels say little, so read each provider's own description. Three examples, from their own sites:

  • Refine Labs works with B2B tech companies at Series B and beyond. It combines demand strategy, paid media across channels such as LinkedIn, Google and YouTube, and a full-service creative team.
  • RevenueZen describes B2B organic growth: SEO, LinkedIn thought leadership, content strategy, visibility in AI answers and analytics.
  • KlientBoost lists paid advertising, SEO, conversion rate optimisation and email marketing, including B2B cold outbound email.

These are examples, not separate categories, and each could fit more than one row. This describes what each publishes, not a review of its work.

Fractional CMOs and advisers

A fractional CMO is a senior marketing leader for part of the month. Some providers add a delivery team; some advisers work through plans and reviews. It works when you have people to carry out the plan. The longer comparison, including hiring, is in should we hire an in-house marketing team or use a fractional one.

Pipeline agencies

A pipeline or appointment-setting agency books first conversations, usually through outbound email and LinkedIn. It is a quick way to add meetings when the offer, the buyer and the message are already proven. If they are not, more volume shows you the problem faster but does not fix it.

Marketing automation and RevOps consultants

These consultants fix the plumbing: CRM stages, lead routing, attribution and the handoff between marketing and sales. When leads go missing between a form and a sales call, this is often the first fix. Check whether deciding who you sell to and what you say is in scope, or stays with you.

Where Forte Growth fits

Forte Growth builds and runs a B2B company's go to market and marketing, from strategy to sales. The work starts with a pipeline audit inside the first month, then the go to market strategy, then the build: the message, lists, outbound, content, CRM and sales process, with the first outbound live inside three weeks. Forte Growth's team does the weekly work and you own what it builds. Then it helps you hire the team to run it, or keeps running it.

For SolvaPay, which builds payment infrastructure for AI, that meant an outbound engine, a go to market strategy and 30 meetings booked before Nordic Fintech Week 2026 opened, from outreach sent in the CEO's name. The details are in the SolvaPay case study.

Where a company already has marketers or an agency, Forte Growth directs them as one plan rather than replacing them. The buying checklist is in choosing a go to market partner for a B2B SaaS company.

How to choose

  • Name the gap: direction, people to do the work, more first meetings, or broken systems.
  • Ask who does the weekly work, by name.
  • Ask what will be live at the end of the first month.
  • Ask what you keep if you stop.

Common questions

What is the difference between a growth agency and a fractional CMO?

A growth agency's team does the work in the channels it covers. A fractional CMO is a part-time senior leader who sets direction, sometimes with a delivery team. Compare who does the weekly work, not the label.

When should a B2B company use a pipeline or appointment-setting agency?

When the target buyer, the offer and the message are already proven and the gap is the number of first conversations. Ask how the agency defines a meeting, who writes the message and who owns the list if the contract ends.

Do we need a RevOps consultant or a marketing agency?

If leads are getting lost between tools, teams or stages, start with the systems. If the systems work but too few of the right buyers arrive, the gap is demand.

Can one provider cover both strategy and execution?

Some do. Forte Growth runs a pipeline audit and the go to market strategy in the first month, then builds and runs the message, outbound, content, CRM and sales process, with the first outbound live inside three weeks. Ask any provider which parts its own team delivers.

What should we check before hiring B2B growth support?

Who does the weekly work, by name; what will be live after the first month; how results are measured; and what you keep if you stop.
